Gamma Scans
Using a low energy gamma radiation source and a sensitive detector we are able to plot an on-line density profile of the distillation column. We then interpret the resulting plot to identify specific problems and accurately determine the locations and severity of conditions such as:

Gamma scans are an extremely useful tool to identify mechanical abnormalities. Routine scans can also help monitor process problems that impact tower performance such as foaming, flooding, fouling, and corrosion. The benefits to gamma scanning trayed towers include, but are not limited to:

Our software allows us to present the scan results however you want to see them. We also have the flexibility to overlay our plots against any previous scans performed (by any scan company).

The first example at left shows scans performed on a Depentanizer tower before and after being water washed.

Gamma scans also yield valuable information for packed beds. Depending on the circumstances, we will perform a single scan or a series of up to four scans.
